Baby Bookworm, written by pediatrician Dr. John S. Hutton and physician-scientist and neonatologist Dr. V.G. Jain, was designed with NICU babies and parents in mind. Rhyming and soothing text combine with gentle watercolor illustrations offering support to families during the often-anxious time spent in the NICU. Baby Bookworm is intended for parents and caregivers to read to their babies in the NICU to help their babies feel calm and loved.

A Spanish version of Baby Bookworm - Léeme te Escucho - is also available.

  • Special Pricing Applies: $3.00/copy for our non-profit partners and organizations. We encourage ordering in carton quantities (60 copies) for most efficient shipping. A 3% processing fee applies to payments by credit card.

About the Authors: 

Dr. John Hutton is a pediatrician and clinical researcher at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Health Dallas. He is passionate about the power of books to bring grownups and children together to read, learn, and connect.

Dr. V.G. Jain is a physician-scientist and a neonatologist. When not working in his lab trying to solve problems of prematurity, he loves writing books and songs about his NICU patients.

About the Illustrator: 

Leah Busch Rockel is an artist and illustrator from Cincinnati, Ohio, with over a decade of experience working in painting, drawing, and glass art design. Her children’s book illustrations include Wake!, Your Red Shoes, and the best-selling Health Literacy board book series, Love Baby Healthy.
